What is The Mission Continues?
We are the only national nonprofit organization challenging post-9/11 veterans to rebuild
a sense of purpose through community service. Our mission is fueled by a deep belief
that our veterans are assets.
Why is it important?
Many veterans struggle to find the same purpose at home as they found in the mission,
camaraderie and structure of the military. Through service, veterans find renewed
strength and purpose while building stronger communities.
What do we do?
• In 2012, we will award 500 community service fellowships to post-9/11 veterans,
empowering them to transform their own lives by serving others.
• Fellows serve for six months at a local nonprofit organization addressing key
educational, environmental or social issues.
• Each Fellow works to achieve one of three objectives at the conclusion of the
fellowship: full-time employment, pursuit of higher education or a permanent role of
service.
• At the culmination of the fellowship, each Fellow leads a service project in his/her
community.
• These projects allow veterans to feel more connected to their communities and help
civilians gain a better understanding of our men and women in uniform.
How Can I Get Involved?
• Invest. Support The Mission Continues with a financial contribution.
• Serve. Serve as a Fellow or serve alongside our Fellows at a Mission Continues service
project in your community.
• Promote. Share our mission with your network and the community via social media
outlets, word of mouth or special events.
